Lately, I’ve been under a lot of stress, and I've noticed how my face has swelled up as a result. It's a natural response to stress—when cortisol levels increase, it can lead to water retention and inflammation. If you’ve ever felt like your face is puffier than usual, you’re not alone! But don’t worry, with the right techniques, you can depuff and restore that natural glow.
Below are my top three Face Yoga exercises to reduce puffiness and tone your facial muscles. Let’s get started!
1. Cheek Sculptor
This exercise helps reduce puffiness in the cheeks and tones the muscles around the mouth.
Start by inflating your cheeks with air, holding your lips closed.
Gently move the air from one cheek to the other, as if swishing mouthwash.
Continue for 30 seconds, then exhale and relax.
Repeat 3 times.
2. Jawline Lift
Perfect for reducing puffiness around the chin and defining the jawline.
Tilt your head back slightly and look at the ceiling.
Bring your lower lip over your upper lip while feeling a stretch along your jaw.
Hold this position for 5 seconds, then relax.
Repeat this movement 10 times.
3. Kansa Wand or Cold Spoon Massage
For a luxurious touch, use a Kansa wand to gently massage the swollen areas of your face. If you don't have one handy, you can also use a chilled spoon for the same effect.
Start by applying a light facial oil to your face to ensure smooth movement.
Using the Kansa wand, gently glide it in upward circular motions, focusing on areas prone to puffiness, like under the eyes and along the jawline.
If using a chilled spoon, press it gently against the swollen areas, then massage in upward motions.
Continue for about 2-3 minutes for a refreshing and soothing depuffing experience.
Bonus Tip: Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT) for Stress Relief
Stress can wreak havoc on our bodies, but Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT) is a powerful way to release tension. To calm your mind and balance your energy, try tapping on these key points:
Start by lightly tapping with your fingertips on the center of your chest, just above your heart.
Tap for about 30 seconds while taking deep, calming breaths.
You can repeat an affirmation like, "Even though I feel stressed, I choose to relax and let go."
These exercises, combined with the power of EFT, can work wonders in reducing facial puffiness and helping you feel calmer. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water and get enough sleep—two other powerful tools to keep your face feeling refreshed and stress-free.
Let me know how you get on, and remember, it's all about taking small steps every day to look after yourself, both inside and out!
